Recently I have faced a strange problem with windows vista laptop that vista wireless adapter did not find any wireless networks available in the area. I’m sure networks are available, because I connected one more laptop in same place. Here are the steps I tried to solve this issue.

When you try to connect a shared printer in earlier versions of operating system from Windows Vista, you may receive the following error message, “The printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0 drivers”.
This problem mostly occurs when you try to connect old printer with old print drivers from Windows Vista PC. Windows Vista does not support ‘kernel mode printer drivers’ for installation.

By any chance after you logged in, if your windows vista desktop icons missing except some windows default desktop icons, it means your vista profile not loaded properly.

1) You must be a member of local administrators group. Go to registry editor, by typing ‘ regedit’ in run.
