It has allowed anyone to read and access protected data by the vulnerable version of OpenSSL which used to protect websites and traffic with SSL/TLS encryption. If you are using this technology, better check your web services. Since most of the websites use OpenSSL certificates and keys for SSL/TLS encryption, you can use below Google chrome extension to check Heartbleed affected websites whenever you visit them.
If you are a system or security administrator then you must have done the Heartbleed vulnerability check on your all servers especially which face the internet. Chromebleed to Check Heartbleed Affected Website
1) Visit Chromebleed download page and add to Google chrome browser.
It doesn’t matter whether you have Windows 8 or 8.1 or Windows 7, it works with Google chrome browser.
2) Once installed, Chromebleed icon will appear in the browser.
Be default it will notify Heartbleed affected websites in Google search results, but if you need to be notified whenever you visit a website, ‘Show All notifications’ should be enabled as below.
Right click on the icon and click Options.
3) Enable show all notifications.
4) After enabling all notifications, you will be seeing a pop up for every website you visit about the status of heartbleed attack.
