VMware has announced their new versions of desktop virtualization software VMware workstation 9 and VMware Player 5 yesterday. Both products allow to run different type of guest operating systems as virtual machine on Windows and Linux host machines. Also, VMware Fusion 5 is available now for Mac OS X host users now.
There are few major tweaks and features available on this release, but the main focus is on upcoming Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS. VMware workstation 9 (and Player 5) supports Windows 8 as guest virtual machine in most of the all required ways and officially it can run on Windows 8 host physical computer without any issues.

A new built-in web interface allows you to access virtual machines via web browser from tablet, smart phones, other laptops and desktops.
Restricted Virtual Machines
Now you can restrict any modifications by other users to particular virtual machine’s configuration or while it is running. In this way, a virtual machine can be safely deployed across other hosts.

Pricing and Availability
VMware workstation 9 is currently available for new purchase at $249, If you are going to upgrade your older 7.x or 8.x, that can be done for $119. Also if you have purchased VMware workstation 8 between 1st August 2012 and 30th September 2012, you are eligible for complimentary electronic upgrade to version 9 for FREE.
