Shared Folders in Sun VirtualBox is a good option to share data between virtual machine (guest) and physical machine (Host). This post explains how you can setup shared folders in VirtualBox with read and write access on physical partition in host.
In my earlier post, I explained about accessing physical disk and partition as raw disk in virtual machine. Its a raw disk access and not having real time read or write access on disk. But it worked as one of drive in host. Shared folders in VirtualBox work as network share between host and guest with real time read and write access. In this example, my host is windows 7 and guest is windows XP. I’m going to access Windows 7 host partition in Windows XP guest VirtualBox virtual machine.

Windows 7 is a good OS from Microsoft after Windows XP (my opinion); it came with lot of new features and works really faster than Windows Vista. Windows 7 has Internet Explorer 8 which is good browser, but as usual you get problems with Internet explorer 8 in Windows 7 after some days.
After you installed third party software, add-ons, tool bars and plug ins to work with Internet explorer, you may get problems. Internet explorer in Windows 7 will start hang, or not respond or take time when open it. By restarting computer, or running system checks or deleting internet temporary files will not help you in this case. The following one of the step may solve your internet explorer problem in windows 7.

Maintenance release of Sun VirtualBox 3.1.4 desktop virtualization software released on 12- Feb 2010. No major changes. Around 50 issued fixed in VirtualBox 3.1.4 version. This is an update version of VirtualBox 3.1.2 released on 17 Dec 2009.
Most of the fixes on VirtualBox 3.1.4 are related to VMM, graphics, networking and disks support. I tried to find out any difference physically between both versions, but couldn’t.
I’m sure who ever faced these bugs in earlier versions would be happy after this release.

Sometimes you will not have any idea how your hard disk got full. Finding which folder or file is taking more space on disk is difficult or time consuming job. This article explains how to find largest file or folder on disk with using WinDirStat free tool. Some system folders such as Temp, Temporally Internet files and Anti Virus quarantine folders consume more space on disk without your knowledge.
To find out size of each folder or file, it’s not possible to Right click on each object and check size. This WinDirStat tool will be helpful to see file and folder size in one view as disk treemap. It’s more convenient to figure out which is consuming more space on disk.
