Recently I had to try Outlook 2000 connectivity with Exchange 2007 mail server without POP3, after several searches on internet, nothing worked. Finally, built in help from office 2000 gave a clue. This post explains how to  remove icon background color in XP and make the icon background color with desktop as transparent. By default Windows XP theme comes with transparent icon background color as below,

But when you do some changes in Windows theme or appearing settings, this transparent color setting easily goes and desktop icons get their original background color of desktop which configured in ‘Advanced Appearance’ settings. Reasons:
Till patches are being update you may face these problems in IE8.
IE8 consumes more memory in your computer, each opened tabs work as individual IE8.


Solution:
1) To avoid IE8 hangs and crashes, make sure once you upgraded to IE8 from previous IE, it works fine initially itself. If it doesn’t uninstall and reinstall IE8 till it works fine.

XP Booting is Slow

Indications: xp-booting is slow
XP booting is  slow
XP taking long time for startup
After you installed some programs, now your computer is very slow to boot

Reason :
When ever you install a program/software in your system, it installs additional services and programs in startup. There for when your computer starts up, these all programs and services will take time to load, so your computer also will be slow during booting.

Solution:
Remove the programs which are not required during startup such as chatting, multimedia, system tools software in XP startup. You do not need to uninstall these programs from computer, just remove from startup by following two methods.  Read more...
