After installed VMware tools in your guest operating system such as Windows Vista and Windows 7, the aero features will start working.
Three Basic Requirements for Windows 7 Aero in VMware Workstation
There are three requirements in your guest and host computer to run aero in virtual machine.
To support Windows 7 Aero graphics, VMware recommends the following
Configuration:
CPU
Intel Dual Core, 2.2GHz and above
AMD Athlon 4200+ and above
Host GCPU
nVidia GeForce 8800GT and above
ATI Radeon HD 2600 and above
With 256MB graphics memory
Memory
At least 3GB of host system memory, 1GB of memory allocated to the guest operating system.
So, make sure you allocated minimum 1GB for guest windows 7 virtual machine, do not change any settings for display card of virtual machine.
Once your computer meets the above requirements and with VMware tools installed, aero will be working fine in vista and Windows 7.
To enable Aero in virtual machine,
Right click on Desktop –> Personalize -> Under Aero themes, select any of the aero theme. At behind you can see the aero features.
