May be I’m posting this late but still lots of users use Windows XP, Windows Vista where I live, except who buy new computers with MS OS. Windows 7 is the really a best OS from Microsoft. Have you ever felt the difference between Windows Me and XP when XP was released? Same scenario here too. The people used XP for long time and tired with Vista, surprised by Windows 7 performance and features. Why Windows 7 better than Vista? here are some points. This is completely from my experience with both OSs.

1) Faster
Yes, its much faster than vista. It loads and shuts down quickly. Programs work faster in Windows 7 compare to Vista. This mainly by less resource consumption for OS. Win 7 doesn’t load unnecessary services or programs with it.
2) Secure?
I don’t want to make this too complicated, but virus,malware and hackers attack will be lesser than earlier Operating Systems. Microsoft challenged that no one can crack the license activating systems as did in earlier OS versions, but…….
3) Cool Appearance
Windows Aero played nice role in Windows 7. Aero shake,aero snap, aero peek and aero themes make user interface experience much better than any other MS OS. Glassy screens, menus and well improved task bar make desktop experience very well well.

4) Easy Documents Access
New user libraries and jump lists help users to access files and programs very quickly. Search function also improved to retrieve file locations more quickly from cache.

5) Compatibility
Great improvements and options to run almost all applications and drivers. It automatically checks the compatible OS version and allows to run. Older OS version support, 32 Bit applications in 64 bit and run as administrator or different users are making compatibility simple.
Most of drivers and applications works well in Windows 7, not like Vista.
XP Mode – allows to install and run XP OS as virtualized software inside Windows 7. Application which require XP only, can be run with XP Mode.
6) Stable
Win 7 is not crashing or hanging like Vista for me. I didn’t try to find the reason for this but I’m sure its by good compatibility support and less hardware resource usage. This is a good relief for vista users.
7) Less Annoying Security
Yes, I’m talking about a little pop up screen for all administrative tasks. The sad part was it popped up for admins also in Vista. You don’t have this issue here. Read more here about Windows 7 UAC and how to disable it.
8.) No More Sidebar
Which was consuming considerable memory and processor utilization in Vista, not more in Win 7. Gadgets can be added easily to anywhere on desktop.
9) Media Player and Media Center
Most of the MS OS users do not use Windows media player because its missing some features or codecs in earlier versions. But Media Player 12 which comes with Windows 7 is packed with all required features to use as default multimedia player. Media center also got new and good features.
10) Do you think I’m missing something else? Yes, I do.
